Producing Cherry Tomatoes in Urban Agriculture

چکیده
Agriculture in urban and urbanizing areas will be increasingly critical to enhancing food security sovereignty, creating income, strengthening social interactions, improving health outcomes cities. We used three roofs, a hydroponic system, an aquaponic field rows environment grow six dwarf tomato cultivars: ‘Micro Tom’, ‘Red Robin’, ‘Sweet ‘n’ Neat’, ‘Terenzo’, ‘Tiny Tim’, ‘Tumbler.’ measured the marketable yield non-marketable yield, mass of tomatoes exhibiting defects, content 12 mineral nutrients fruits. found productivity often varied among cultivars within cropping system. ‘Terenzo’ ‘Tumbler’ were always some most productive cultivars, whereas Tom’ was normally least cultivars. The production from ‘Sweat Neat’ more variable, sometimes producing high, moderate, or low mass. especially variable across we did not identify that consistently high systems, indicating highly influenced by genotype x interaction. amount 5 minerals differed aquaponics, 9 hydroponics, 6–12 roof systems. A high-yielding cultivar should selected first methods can then modified maximize nutrient content.

In-package atmospheric pressure cold plasma treatment of cherry tomatoes.
Cold plasma is increasingly under research for decontamination of foods, especially fresh fruits and vegetables. The effect of cold plasma on food quality, however, remains under researched. This study investigates the effects of cold plasma generated within a sealed package from a dielectric barrier discharge on the physical quality parameters and respiration rates of cherry tomatoes. Respirat...
متن کاملInfluence of Heat Treatments on Carotenoid Content of Cherry Tomatoes
Tomatoes and tomato products are rich sources of carotenoids-principally lycopene, followed by β-carotene and lutein. The aim of this work was to study the effect of heat treatment on carotenoid content in cherry tomatoes. Raw and canned products were sampled and analysed; furthermore whole, skin and pulp fractions of cherry tomatoes were analysed when raw and home-processed, in order to better...

This paper describes the scale and nature of agricultural production in urban, suburban and peri-urban zones of Mexico City and how these have adapted to the changing demands from urban populations for food, wood and recreation. It also demonstrates how agricultural producers have successfully adapted their products and their production methods, including building on traditional production syst...
متن کاملShape-based Segmentation of Tomatoes for Agriculture Monitoring
In this paper, we present a segmentation procedure based on a parametric active contour with shape constraint, in order to follow the growth of the tomatoes from the images acquired in the field. This is a challenging task because of the poor contrast in the images and the occlusions by the vegetation. In our sequential approach, considering one image per day, we assume that a segmentation of t...
